Dear readers,

It is finally here – the new edition of Atlas Dental Europa!

After 2019, when we produced a European dental market study for the first time on behalf of the GFDI/VDDI on the occasion of the International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, we have now fundamentally revised it ourselves. Current topics such as "sustainability" and "skills shortage" have been added.

The result is impressive: Around 250 pages of concentrated facts on the structures of 11 important dental countries in Europe, preceded by a comprehensive presentation of the market situation "after Corona", eye catching explanations and significant market data processed in 76 maps and illustrations. Our market analysts have examined more than 500 sources, statistics databases, studies, surveys, and articles in trade magazines. Manufacturers, dealers, dentists, and dental technicians can look forward to a comprehensive overview of developments in the entire European dental sector.

A unique selling point of Atlas Dental Europe are the "country structure profiles", which allow you to see the key market figures on both the supply and demand side at a glance. This analysis is supplemented by an overview of recognized country indices on competitiveness, innovativeness and state of digitalization.

Read why a change in legislation in France is opening up new opportunities for the dental industry, or why the British market is particularly suitable for taking a look at its structural development, which could also affect other countries in the future. The Spanish market, which is still very small in relative terms, is interesting not only because of its potential, but also with regard to the next generation of dentists.

And what else is there to report? Dental market players will be pleased to see how quickly the post-corona recovery has set in and how robust the market is overall. In the area of digitalization, the coronavirus pandemic has proven to be a catalyst and has significantly accelerated it. Supply chains have become very vulnerable due to coronavirus and the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, but a general normalization is expected in 2024.

AI technologies are of course currently a hot topic and seem to be taking the market by storm. Nevertheless, we should not be too euphoric, but rather take a differentiated view of the associated opportunities and risks.

Demographic change is continuing unabated, resulting in changes to the patient structure, the services in demand and also the range of services on offer. The connections between oral and general diseases will require more interdisciplinary cooperation in the future – an absolute future topic for all market players.

Although greater digitality is counteracting the shortage of skilled workers, this problem continues to dominate everyday life in practices, laboratories, industry, and trade. Increasing regulatory requirements are also tying up personnel – this study also provides you with a comprehensive overview of this topic. The topic of sustainability has largely been accepted by manufacturers and retailers and awareness of this topic has already increased noticeably in practices and laboratories – this is also an absolute topic for the future.

As dental medical technology is an important and independent part of general medical technology, we often refer to general medical technology in order to complete the overall 3 picture. This study is intended to provide you with up-to-date information and interesting insights into the pan-European dental market with its very different national markets, but is not intended as a recommendation for action or strategy.
