It gives us great pleasure to present our brand new dental market study ”ATLAS DENTAL – Special Edition for IDS 2025” to the dental industry on the occasion of the 41st IDS.

Structure of the study and key issues

The study examines important European markets in the dental healthcare industry and takes a look at trends and developments overseas. On 72 pages, ATLAS DENTAL offers a comprehensive comparison of these markets based on structural profiles, informative texts and illustrative graphics.

The European dental market is presented in compact country portraits of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Poland. The extra-European analysis focuses on the US, Brazilian, Japanese and Egyptian markets. Thereby, the following questions are at the center of attention:

  • How has the dental industry developed in the European and international country markets in recent years?

  • What challenges await dental practices, dental laboratories, the dental industry and the dental trade?

  • How will the dental market develop in the future and what opportunities will this present?

Within the three perspectives ”Analyzing structures, mastering challenges and shaping the future”, ATLAS DENTAL provides in-depth insights and a clear orientation on the key issues facing the industry

Continuation of the successful study series

The ”ATLAS DENTAL – Special Edition for IDS 2025” thus offers an exciting presentation of dental market developments from an international perspective.

This Atlas Dental study for IDS 2025 continues the very successful series of studies that we first published for IDS 2013 under the title ”Schedule for the European Dental Market”. The follow-up studies ”Atlas Dental – The European Markets” (2019) and ”Atlas Dental – Africa” (2020) also met with great interest in the dental world and are still valuable sources of information on development trends in the dental markets today. Large parts of the assessments and predicted trends made back then have now become reality.

The information contained herein cannot and should not be understood as generally applicable strategy recommendations for business decisions. Ultimately, it is up to each company to decide for itself how it takes up the findings and suggestions from this study and supplements and expands them with its own in-depth market research.

The role of oral health in the global health economy

What is certain is that the healthcare markets and the oral healthcare industry will become considerably more important in the future for keeping the population healthy. Oral and dental health are integral components of general health. Health is a valuable asset and an important factor (and often a prerequisite) for individual well-being, for coping with everyday life and for the population‘s ability to work.

The dental profession (FDI, CED, BZÄK, also WHO) at national, international and global level emphasizes the special role of oral health in people‘ s overall health. The need for treatments and therapies to improve oral and dental health exists worldwide. The service providers are highly trained and motivated. This generally applies to all markets.

Positive future prospects and necessary framework conditions

The future prospects for the dental industry are very positive: we are witnessing increasing middle classes in many regions of the world. Higher purchasing power and the realization of the connection between oral and dental health and the quality of life of citizens are increasing the demand for healthcare services. Experts expect additional demand due to ageing societies in most leading industrialized countries, as well as in many other countries with similar demographic development.

It is not least up to the politicians of the respective regions and countries to realize the potential for the health of citizens, for the benefit of the national economy. The WHO and the EU are developing models to give even population groups with limited resources access to better healthcare.

To achieve this, the oral health industry needs framework conditions that also enable the dental sector to generate a return on investment. Those who are to successfully provide healthcare services for patients need a solid financial basis for their work with patients.

The healthcare industry is at the service of people, of patients. It is therefore necessary to abolish non-tariff trade barriers worldwide. Medical and dental products are absolutely not suitable for politically motivated sanctions. The free and unhindered trade and distribution of medical products is urgently needed, especially in the field of health, from prevention to prosthetic patient care.

IDS - driving force in the global dental industry

The 41st IDS 2025 will once again be the indispensable global marketplace for the dental industry. As the most comprehensive showcase of innovations, it presents the entire dental market in fair competition between suppliers. It is already certain that IDS will once again provide impetus and set the pace for the global dental industry.

Dentists, dental technicians, dental retailers and the dental industry meet at IDS to discuss current trends in the dental industry and develop options for shaping their areas of responsibility and future strategies. The special task as a manufacturer at the 41st IDS is to present itself to the trade visitors from all over the world as an efficient partner with its innovations, user-friendly products, serviceability and reliability.

We hope you enjoy reading this report and that it gives you new insights into the importance of successful collaboration across the entire dental industry regarding the maintenance and restoration of patients‘ oral and dental health worldwide.
