2.6.2  Dentists/Practices

With 1.12 practicing dentists per 1,000 inhabitants, Poland has a high dentist density compared to the rest of the EU. In 2023, there were a total of 41,144 practicing dentists in 2,849 practices.106 Dentist density is particularly high in the regions of Lodz, Podlaskie and Masovian. The Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Warmian- Masurian regions have significantly below- average figures. In 2023 more than a third of dentists working in Poland (34.84 %) are younger than 40. Just under a sixth (16.43 %) are at retirement age or close to it.107

Many dentists have specializations. With 11,074 dentists, the majority specialize in conservative dentistry with endodontics. Far behind is dental surgery (1,957), followed by prosthetics (1,638), orthodontics (1,374) and periodontology (595). There are also 840 pediatric dentists.108
