2.6.4  Manufacturer/retailer

With expenditure on medical care of around € 34 billion in 2023 and revenue growth of +16.7 % compared to the previous year, the upward trend is continuing. Further growth is forecast due to the high pent-up demand. The Fitch Solution agency is forecasting average growth of 10 % until 2027. In order to drive forward costly modernizations of public healthcare facilities, the government established a medical fund (Fundusz Medyczny) with a budget of € 650 million. Poland will also receive funding totaling around € 4.5 billion at European level until 2027 as part of the reconstruction fund. Investments are to be made primarily in the purchase of new medical equipment for hospitals and doctors' surgeries and the digitalization of the healthcare system. Between 50 % and 90 % of Poland's domestic market is supplied by imports. The share of imports from Germany, currently a quarter, is declining. The Polish sales market offers interesting opportunities for German medical technology manufacturers in particular, not least due to the numerous funding initiatives. However, the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic have also led to a rethink in Poland and the state materials reserve agency (Agencji Rezerw Materiałowych; ARM) is doing its best to rely on domestic solutions.111 ,112 ,113
