3.2.2  Dental laboratories

The possibilities and the variety in dental technology in terms of workflow, procedures and materials are constantly growing.
As experts in the field of dental technology, dental laboratories are therefore increasingly in demand as competent service partners for their dental customers and – in addition to the pure production of dental prostheses and other dental technology products – are also increasingly offering them information and services relating to dental technology. This enables dentists to focus on patient care.

Digital workflow: Faster and less error-prone thanks to fewer work steps

In more and more dental laboratories, digital data-based technologies are supplementing or replacing traditional manual workflows. In many laboratories, digitalization is already well advanced and encompasses not only the manufacturing process, but also the entire business process, including communication with customers and suppliers. Special data exchange platforms are increasingly being used to ensure smooth data transfer between dental laboratories and their customers and suppliers. More and more devices are also connected to digital platforms (not only to transfer this production data, but also for device service and support).256
