4.1  How will dental market develop over the next few years and what opportunities will this present for dental companies?

After looking at the current structures and challenges, Part 3 of ATLAS DENTAL takes a look at the (near) future of the dental industry in the country markets under review and addresses the following questions:

  • How is the dental market likely to develop over the next few years?

  • Which trends are decisive for this?

  • How can stakeholders such as dental practices, dental laboratories, medical technology manufacturers and dental retailers adapt to this?

Following steady market growth before the coronavirus pandemic and the rapid recovery in demand for dental treatments afterwards, the global dental market is expected to continue to grow significantly in the coming years. Fortune‘ s market analysts estimate the global market for dental services at around USD 415.10 billion in 2024 and forecast the global market volume to increase to USD 863.71 billion by 2032. This corresponds to an average annual growth rate of 9.6 %.307 Fortune analysts estimate the global market volume for dental devices at around USD 7.38 billion in 2024. This is expected to rise to USD 12.62 billion by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.9 %. Growth will be driven by an increasing awareness of oral health, a rising prevalence of dental diseases and a growing demand for cosmetic/aesthetic dental treatments. In addition to a favorable regulatory framework and a growing number of DSO practices, other important drivers are innovations in dental diagnostics and treatment. Digital devices, particularly for the digital dental workflow (CAD/ CAM, 3D printing, intraoral scanners), are of central importance. The main limiting factors are the high investment costs. Dental imaging (23.9 %) will be the largest market segment for dental devices/equipment worldwide in 2023, followed by dental chairs and CAD/CAM devices. The highest growth rates are forecast for the Asia-Pacific region, particularly due to dental tourism and the spread of advanced technologies.308
